Prayers for Vocations

The Invisible Monastery Prayer for Vocations

God our Father, You made each of us
to use our gifts in the Body of Christ.
We ask that You inspire
young people whom you call to
priesthood and consecrated life
to courageously follow Your will.

Send workers into Your great harvest
so that the Gospel is preached,
the poor are served with love,
the suffering are comforted,
and Your people are strengthened
by the sacraments.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Prayer for Seminarians

Gracious God, bless our seminarians, may the Holy Spirit inspire and give them the courage and enthusiasm for their vocation. Guide them to become prayerful and holy priests, men with hearts like our Lord, prepared to serve the Church and give their lives for Christ. We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Vocation Prayer for Families

Lord Jesus Christ, we bring to You in prayer the children of our family. Give them hearts open to hear Your voice. Help them to be generous in responding to Your call. Give them the grace to persevere in overcoming all the pressures in our world that keep them from embracing and truly living their vocation.

Graciously grant we parents a living faith and an ardent love, which will inspire our children to live holy lives. May we genuinely encourage and foster the God-given vocations of our children and help them to respond generously. Let us rejoice when a child of ours is called to be a priest or religious. Amen.

Vocation Prayer for Children

I glorify You, God in all that I do.
In mind, body, and spirit
I give my best to you.

Help me to follow your will
No matter the call:
Sister, brother, or priest,
I promise my all.

If you call me to marriage,
I promise to love,
And to teach my own children
To seek grace from above.

Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning,
is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.

Amen.

Prayer for Abandonment

Prayer of Trust in Uncertainty

My Lord God,
I have no idea where I am going
I do not see the road ahead of me.
I cannot know for certain
where it will end.
Nor do I really know myself,
And the fact that I think I am following
Your will does not mean that I am
actually doing so.
But I believe that the desire to please
You does in fact please you.
And I hope that I have that desire
in all that I am doing.
And I know that if I do this,
You will lead me by the right road
though I may know nothing about it.
Therefore will I trust You always
though I may seem to be lost
and in the shadow of death,
I will not fear,
for You are ever with me
and You will never leave me
to face my perils alone. Amen.

“It would be good… to organize an Invisible Monastery in which many persons, day and night, are committed to continuous prayer for priestly vocations.”
